Top leaders from Niagara County and New York state will be on hand 9 a.m. Thursday as a new high-tech industrial park sited in the Town of Cambria receives New York state's new "Shovel-Ready Certification" from Empire State Development Corp. officials (meaning that new companies can break ground at the site without the red tape often associated with new construction projects).

The Cobra North Wrestling Academy (affiliated with Cobra Wrestling Academy of Depew) will accept seventh through 12th grade wrestlers who are looking to improve their technique and toughness throughout the spring.

A representative from Assemblyman John Ceretto's, R-I-Lewiston, office will address the Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority tonight at a regional forum hosted by the transit agency. A statement from Ceretto detailing his support for increasing state funding to the NFTA in order to ensure reliable mass transit for Western New York residents and avoid fare increases for commuters will be read during the event for public record.

Daredevil Nik Wallenda wants to establish a permanent theatre in Niagara Falls where he and members of his family can put on tightrope or aerial shows and other forms of circus entertainment.
"I've always said I want to make Niagara Falls my second home," the Florida-based Wallenda told Bullet News on Monday. "Why wouldn't I? Look at the crowds that come through Niagara Falls. I wouldn't be a very good businessman if I didn't consider something like that."
Wallenda, 32, is part of the famed circus family the Flying Wallendas.

The Junior League of Buffalo has announced the 2011-12 community assistance small grants program's request for proposals. Qualified not-for-profit agencies throughout Western New York are encouraged to apply for grant funding up to $1,000. Past recipients will be considered for award monies once in a two-year period.

The soaking rains Thursday night into Friday morning left the parking lot completely saturated, forcing co-promoters Jamie and Joel Friesen to postpone Saturday's event for the second time this year.
