Assemblyman John Ceretto, R-I-Lewiston, and State Sen. George Maziarz, R-C-I-Newfane, today announced their joint "Empower Niagara" petition drive. The petitions, which call for a Niagara County resident to be appointed to the New York Power Authority Board of Trustees, will be hand delivered by Ceretto and Maziarz to Gov. Andrew Cuomo.

Pasceri will host a refuse and recycling program Q&A and live equipment demonstration from 4 until 8 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 15, at Widewaters Marina (lower Market Street). Assemblyman John Ceretto, R-I-Lewiston, applauded the announcement Tuesday of the New York Fresh Connect Farmers' Markets (FreshConnect) program, which launches new farmers markets and expands others around New York in order to encourage healthy eating options. Ceretto said the program will help New York farmers sell their locally grown products to consumers in Niagara County.

Ceretto, who helped pass the Assembly version of the legislation, noted that the bill is designed to enhance investments in the state's university, create jobs through public-private partnerships and establish a rational tuition policy.
