Ceretto, Grisanti applaud economic development expansion

Assemblyman John Ceretto, R-I-Lewiston, and State Sen. Mark Grisanti, R-60th District, today applauded the expansion of the USA Niagara Development Corporation and its footprint north of Main Street in Niagara Falls's downtown. The expansion includes the Aquarium of Niagara, which will be a boost for the region's tourism industry.

Thousands of hopefuls will have one more opportunity to audition for season 11 of "American Idol" at the IZOD Center in East Rutherford, N.J., on Thursday, Sept. 22. The New Jersey auditions will be the last stop on a nationwide search for the best undiscovered talent in the country. Season 11 auditions were also held in St. Louis; Portland, Ore.; San Diego; Pittsburgh; Charleston, S.C.; Denver; and Houston.

Ceretto legislation streamlines pistol permits

Assemblyman John Ceretto, R-I-Lewiston, is sponsoring legislation to help streamline Niagara County's pistol permit process. The bill would help alleviate the current logjam in the license process while supporting Second Amendment rights by allowing a certified staff member of the Niagara County Clerk's Office to access mental health records for pistol license applications. Sen. George Maziarz, R-C-Newfane, will also introduce this legislation in the state Senate.
