Union soldiers will man the ramparts of Old Fort Niagara during Civil War Weekend, May 14-15. The event will commemorate the 150th anniversary of the beginning of the Civil War in April 1861. Niagara University theater studies junior Callie Bush, Class of 2012, has been awarded the sixth Tara Laurie Memorial Scholarship to assist with her NU theater program study abroad experience at Anglo-American University in London this summer. She is one of nine theater studies students who will travel to London this summer with Dr. Sharon Watkinson, chair of Niagara's department of theater and fine arts, and other NU students and faculty.

George Maziarz, R-C-Newfane, met Monday with the governor's appointment secretary, Judge Leslie Leach, to discuss filling a current vacancy on the New York Power Authority's board of trustees with a Niagara County resident. The meeting was held in the governor's capitol office.
