Jamison R. Crawford, a Niagara University senior from Grand Island, was recently notified that a paper he presented at the 19th annual Illinois State University Conference for Students of Political Science on April 8 has been selected for a Best Paper Award by Pi Sigma Alpha, the National Political Science Honor Society. As a result, Jamison's paper, one of only four undergraduate submissions chosen, will be published in the fall 2011 issue of Critique, a worldwide student journal of politics.

The Society of Chest Pain Centers announced last week that Mount St. Mary's Hospital and Health Center has earned the designation as an accredited chest pain center, the first and only hospital in Niagara County with such a prestigious and medically important designation.

After almost one year of evidence and one year following closing submissions on an appeal filed by the residents in the Village of Queenston challenging a Niagara Escarpment Commission decision that granted a development permit to construct a two-story building on the private dock in Queenston, the minister of natural resources has rendered a decision. The minister found the NEC's decision to grant the development permit was incorrect.
