Historic Lewiston Jazz Festival back and swingin' for ninth year

The Village of Lewiston will once again appeal to all of the senses, with sounds of cool jazz, the sights of hot classic cars, and the aromas of culinary delights filling the streets, as the ninth annual Historic Lewiston Jazz Festival welcomes residents and visitors alike on Friday and Saturday, Aug. 27 and 28.
Lew-Port accepts tax warrant

The Lewiston-Porter Board of Education accepted Superintendent Christopher Roser's recommendations for the 2010-11 tax warrant, which included a slight tax levy increase for Lewiston and a reduced levy for Porter. The board appropriated $1.8 million to be kept in the fund balance, the same as last year.

Art lovers flocked to Lewiston's Center Street last weekend amidst scorching hot temperatures and a brief yet substantial downpour on Sunday. More than 170 local and out-of-town artists displayed their various works, covering a broad media of different art forms. This year's event featured a few different elements that made even the seasoned Art Festival veteran enthusiastic.
