Empire State Wrestling will hold its first event at Buffalo RiverWorks this year in impressive fashion. "Tough Luck" will take place Saturday, March 18, at Buffalo RiverWorks (359 Ganson St.). The main event will feature the ESW debut of IMPACT Wrestling's "Speedball" Mike Bailey, a bevy of top U.S. independent wrestling stars, and many of Western New York's best wrestlers. Bailey is set to face ESW heavyweight champion "The Remix" Kevin Bennett for the title.

Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn announced 34-year-old Marty M. Walton of North Tonawanda was sentenced yesterday afternoon before State Supreme Court Justice Deborah A. Haendiges to 15 years in prison followed by 20 years of post-release supervision. He will be required to register as a sex offender upon his release.

Plans are being finalized for the 35th annual Hard Hat Expo, set to take place March 22-23 in Syracuse. Requests from both attendees and exhibitors for evening hours have been heard so, for the first time, this year the show hours on Wednesday will be 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., with an attendee/exhibitor mixer taking place on the show floor beginning at 5:30 p.m. Show hours on Thursday are 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Shortly after 2 a.m. Sunday morning, Niagara Falls police were contacted by an adult male that stated that he had just been the victim of an armed robbery in the area of 10th Street and Ferry Avenue. The victim stated that he had been struck in the head with a hammer, as well as having a gun pointed at him while he was being robbed of property.

Just before 2 a.m. Monday, Deputy Westmorland attempted to initiate a traffic stop for several vehicle and traffic law infractions. A vehicle failed to yield and a pursuit ensued. The vehicle fled through the Town of Niagara and into the City of Niagara Falls, where the driver lost control of the vehicle and struck an apartment building on the corner of Cayuga Drive and Mang Avenue.
