Harry Styles' critically and commercially acclaimed single "As It Was" adds a 15th week at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 songs chart. The song is the longest reign by a British act, as well as the longest running solo No. 1 song in Billboard Hot 100 history. "As It Was" is also the first song ever to spend its first 25 weeks in the top three positions on the same chart, with 24 of the 25 in the top two extending its record.

Community Missions will hold its inaugural blessing of the animals from 9-11 a.m. this Saturday at its main site, 1570 Buffalo Ave., Niagara Falls. The event will feature clergy from various faiths blessing pets from the community. The public is invited to bring their furry (or scaly) friends out to be blessed.

Gov. Kathy Hochul announced actions to crack down on unemployment insurance fraud after a New York State Department of Labor investigation found that insurance fraud accounted for more than $11 million in benefits payments in August. These benefits were paid almost exclusively to those working while also collecting unemployment insurance payments during the pandemic.

The Erie County Personnel Department announced it has begun to allow the public to sign up and pay for civil service exams online. Previously, the department required civil service test takers to complete a paper application and then mail or drop off the application and payment to its offices in downtown Buffalo.

Catholic Health is expanding its hospital visiting hours. Patients may have up to two visitors at a time between 11 a.m. and 8 p.m. daily at Kenmore Mercy Hospital, Mercy Hospital of Buffalo, Mount St. Mary's Hospital and Sisters of Charity Hospital (Main Street and St. Joseph campuses). Visitation beyond normal hours continues to be permitted under certain conditions.

The "Spirit of Victory", a sculpture sited at Joseph Davis State Park, is in need of repair. The statue, by artist Tom Mullany, was originally part of a larger installation titled "Drums Along the Niagara," created in 1989 when the artist was in-residence at Artpark.

As the blueberry-colored jet boat circled around the Devil's Hole gorge class five rapids, Sandy Dugan began to cry what she called "tears of joy." Strapped in a red lifejacket, gripping the handlebar above her seat cushion, Dugan looked out on the Niagara River from this vantage point for the first time in her 84 years. Taking it all in as the vessel gently rocked up and down, she proclaimed, "This is every bit as exciting as Alaska." As the jet boat picked up steam and ascended its highest crest, Dugan exclaimed, "I'm so glad we did that. It was wonderful!"
