Dale Lynn Shank, 72, of Ransomville, left this planet on June 8, 2022, at his residence, under the care of Niagara Hospice. Born in Niagara Falls, New York, he was the son of the late Dale F. and Margaret M. (Jamieson) Shank.

Students in the Good Samaritan Club at Cardinal O'Hara High School made fleece tie blankets for patients at Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center. On June 7, some of the members, accompanied by their adviser, Renee Orr, delivered nearly 20 blankets to Roswell.

Gov. Kathy Hochul announced a total of $567 million is available to help low-income electric and gas utility customers pay off past utility bills. The financial assistance program includes an estimated $557 million statewide COVID-19 bill credit program for low-income customers adopted by the New York State Public Service Commission.

Community Beer Works, in partnership with Tops Friendly Markets, has announced the "Good Neighbor Summer 2022 Program" to benefit this year's Ride for Roswell. Through July 4, proceeds from every six-pack of Good Neighbor IPA sold at Tops Friendly Markets will be donated directly to the ride. Additionally, participating customers are entered into daily prize draws - with one grand prize of being named a CBW brewer for a day.

After an outstanding event at Buffalo RiverWorks, Empire State Wrestling returns to Frontier Fire Hall for its next event with "Black & Blue" on Saturday, June 18, at 2176 Liberty Drive, Niagara Falls. This will be ESW's second card at Frontier Fire Hall this year, after previously running there in March.

Christian Heights Camp is celebrating its 75th anniversary July 2-3. As families sought to recover from the trauma of World War II, several members of the LaSalle Church of Christ wanted to form a camp for their children to have Christian recreation opportunities. They pooled their resources and, in 1947, purchased the Milks family dairy farm in the Town of Napoli.

Appeal 2022 is less than half a million dollars away from reaching its $9.5 million goal by June 30. The annual Appeal, in support of Catholic Charities and the "Fund for the Faith," is currently at $9,080,972, or more than 95% raised.

After a two-year hiatus, the annual NCCC Foundation Scholarship Gala will return in person with a special diamond theme to mark the occasion. The Niagara Falls National Heritage Area is seeking four artists to paint murals on Main Street and Depot Avenue in Niagara Falls. The "NF Murals Project" there is entering its fourth mural-making phase, following completion of 16 murals since 2019. Murals feature stories of freedom and champions of change in the Highland community of Niagara Falls.

The Auxiliary of Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center has donated $25,000 to the hospital's MRI campaign. Funds will directly support Memorial's quest to acquire a 3T magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) unit, which will be the only one of its kind in Niagara County, and housed on the medical center's downtown Niagara Falls campus.

WNY Book Arts Center (Book Arts) will launch the 2022 PRINTING PARTNERS sessions in conjunction with community partner Carnegie Art Center. This program offers free, sequential art classes to children and families in their own neighborhoods, and as always it is free to participate in. Open to ages 8-plus, students will learn the art of origami, printmaking, as well as an array of bookmaking techniques with resident teaching artist Ruby Meritt.
