The Western New York Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association is inviting Niagara County residents to join the fight to end Alzheimer's by participating in the Alzheimer's Association Walk to End Alzheimer's on Oct. 18 at Reservoir State Park in Niagara Falls. Check-in begins at 9 a.m., with opening ceremonies at 10 a.m. and the walk commencing at 10:15 a.m.

Gov. Kathy Hochul recently announced an extension of executive order 52, which allows pharmacists to continue administering COVID vaccines, providing access for all New Yorkers who wish to be vaccinated. The executive order will be in place for at least another 30 days while work continues on a long-term legislative solution to protect the immunization and health care rights of New Yorkers.

The intersection of Niagara Falls Boulevard and 66th Street/Factory Outlet Boulevard was closed for approximately three hours between 11:45 a.m. and 2:45 p.m. Saturday, while the Niagara Falls Police Department crash investigation unit investigated a crash between a vehicle and a pedestrian.

The Mason FOREVER Foundation was established in honor of Mason Sawyer Monteleone, an interdisciplinary health science major at the University of Florida in Tallahassee who tragically died in a car accident at the age of 21. He was interested in becoming a physician assistant or an orthopedic surgeon. He graduated from Canisius High School in Buffalo, and attended middle school at Lewiston-Porter.
