Hochul announces highlights of New York budget; GOP, state leaders react

Over the weekend, Gov. Kathy Hochul announced highlights of what her team called an "historic" fiscal year 2023 budget, which "blends record investments into the long-term future of New York along with significant one-time aid to help recover from the COVID-19 pandemic and unprecedented fiscal responsibility."

Kathy Hochul recently announced 1,753 firearms have been removed from the state's streets in the two months since she convened the Interstate Task Force on Illegal Guns - a 20% increase in the overall number of guns seized due to increased cooperation and communication from the state and regional partnership.

At the Grand Island Central School District Board of Education meeting on that date, Dr. Rubie Harris, assistant superintendent of budget and finance, said, "We're confident that the aid that was allocated in the January funds is what we will receive. We'll be blessed if we receive more than that. We don't expect it to be less."
Shoreline restoration project underway near Buckhorn Island State Park

Dan Dinsmore, field superintendent for LDC Construction, said the Grand Island company, owned by Lyle Dinsmore, is doing the project for the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation.

Higgins: Nearly $31 million in transit funding for NFTA
