ECDOH updates COVID-19 testing options

The Erie County Department of Health is reminding Erie County residents they can seek free coronavirus testing. ECDOH has updated its procedures to make rapid (ID Now) testing available to any resident on request. Previously, rapid testing was only available from ECDOH for individuals with COVID-19 symptoms or those with a known exposure.

Tops Friendly Markets raised $13,365 as a result of its gingerbread house campaign for Oishei Children's Hospital. The campaign, which kicked off in early November, welcomed families to purchase a gingerbread house kit at locations throughout the region, with a portion of the proceeds being donated back to the hospital. The kits came complete with gingerbread to build a house, plus sweet candy decorations and icing.

Higgins urges Western New Yorkers to join 10 million American households registered for broadband benefit

Gov. Kathy Hochul announced the successful launch of mobile sports wagering in New York state, with nearly $2 billion in wagers taken during the first 30 days of operation. Her team said, "This record-breaking success, more than any other state has ever reported, will generate more than $70 million in tax revenue for New York state, providing funds to be allocated toward programs that support education, youth sports, and more."
