Hochul signs legislation protecting seniors from fraudulent use of personal information

Gov. Kathy Hochul on Monday signed legislation (S.1560/A.1994) into law to protect seniors from fraudulent use of personal information by authorizing support services on identity theft through nonprofit agencies and law enforcement. The legislation allows the Office of the Aging and law enforcement to recognize identity theft as one of the many forms of elder abuse, and take appropriate action to help seniors.
NYS Department of State: $1 million available through Citizens Reorganization Empowerment Grant to support local governments considering municipal consolidations

Niagara County accepting grant applications for small business COVID-19 funds

Niagara County Legislator Rich Andres, chairman of the Economic Development Committee, on Monday announced applications are now available for Niagara County's COVID Relief for Small Business Grant program. Niagara County was awarded $1 million in state Community Development Block Grant CARES Act funding for the program, which will be administered by the Niagara County Industrial Development Agency.

Gov. Kathy Hochul today announced the detection of three more confirmed cases of the COVID-19 omicron variant in New York, for a total of eight confirmed cases. Her team said, "So far, the cases appear unrelated and have been confirmed through sequencing of the SARS-CoV-2 virus. All three of the new cases are from New York City, for a total of seven New York City residents, and one from Suffolk County, confirmed to have the omicron variant."

Empire State Development on Friday announced the beginning of stabilization work on the roof and foundation of the Michigan Street Baptist Church. During the 2021 spring semester, senior Maren Geiger began her endeavors of bringing awareness to sexual health and wellness on Niagara University's campus. After gathering information and having many conversations, Geiger's Sexual Wellness Initiative (SWI) was formed. It is a coalition (not affiliated with Niagara University) of almost 40 students who are dedicated to educating students about sexual wellness.

The singer/songwriter has been on tour since the first weekend of September with his opening show for his "Love On Tour" in Las Vegas. He opened his tour sporting a pair of fuchsia-colored trousers and a magenta vest that was covered in sparkling fringe.
