On Oct. 27, the New York State Department of Health released an informational document that allowed local health departments to reduce the duration of a quarantine under certain conditions. Niagara County Legislator Owen Steed will host his annual Thanksgiving dinner for local families on Monday, Nov. 22. Rather than a sit-down dinner, residents will pick up meals to take home and enjoy. Steed said the format change was primarily based on the rise in COVID-19 cases.

Kathy Hochul announced digital COVID-19 vaccination credentials issued from Canadian provinces and territories that adhere to SMART Health Cards specifications will immediately be accepted through the state's Excelsior Pass scanner application. Following the reopening of the U.S.-Canadian border, this means fully vaccinated Canadians can use their compatible vaccination credentials for business entry in New York.

Gov. Kathy Hochul visited the Delavan Grider Community Center in Buffalo on Tuesday, providing a briefing on efforts to combat the coronavirus. She expressed concern for this region, which ranked No. 2 in the state with an 8.52% seven-day average percentage of positive test results. The three-day average one year ago was 5.2%.

Gov. Kathy Hochul announced all New Yorkers enrolled in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program will receive the maximum allowable level of food benefits for November. All households participating in SNAP - including those already at the maximum level of benefits - will receive a supplemental allotment later this month, bringing in roughly $230 million in federal funding into the state's economy.

New York Secretary of State Rossana Rosado on Tuesday announced her approval of the Town of Porter Local Waterfront Revitalization Program (LWRP), which provides a step-by-step process to advance the town's waterfront planning from vision to implementation. Porter's LWRP was prepared in partnership with the Department of State and supported by $34,250 in grant funding from the Environmental Protection fund (EPF).
