TNT celebrates Fall Expo, new business

The Chamber of Commerce of the Tonawandas held its Fall Expo with member Gratwick Hose Co. on Saturday. This year's event featured vendors that cover everything from home improvement, health and wellness, beauty and fashion, to education, to a variety of personal, home, finance and novelty gifts. Admission was free to the public.
New York Power Authority's Niagara Power Vista celebrates Energy Awareness Month

As October is Energy Awareness Month, the New York Power Authority is hosting two energy-related events at the Niagara Power Vista in Lewiston: The Electric Vehicle (EV) Guest Drive on Saturday, Oct. 23, where licensed drivers can test drive an electric vehicle; and a Halloween trunk or treat event for families and kids on Saturday, Oct. 30, where families can trick or treat through an array of electric vehicles.

Vietnam veterans wall, photo exhibit on display at Niagara County Courthouse

Niagara County Clerk Joseph Jastrzemski hosted a brief ceremony on Tuesday to open a display of the Niagara County Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall and the "Our Photo Album" exhibit featuring photos taken by Vietnam veterans during their tours of duty. The display will be open at least through Veteran's Day (Thursday, Nov. 11) at the Niagara County Courthouse in Lockport.
$11.1 million in federal workforce funding to expand disability resource coordination program across NYS

Kathy Hochul announced a commitment of $11.1 million in federal workforce development funding over the next three years to expand the network of disability resource coordinators to all 33 local workforce development areas and to better serve individuals with disabilities in New York State Career Centers.
Higgins announces approval of legislation delivering federal funding to help states tackle opioid crisis

Congressman Brian Higgins announced approval of the State Opioid Response Grant Authorization Act of 2021 (H.R. 2379). The bipartisan legislation provides $1.75 billion each year from 2022 through 2027 to help states and tribes prevent and reduce substance abuse. The annual allocation represents an increase over the $1.5 billion provided for 2021.

It's a girl! Buffalo Zoo welcomes new female rhino calf

At 3:29 a.m. Saturday, the Buffalo Zoo's greater one-horned rhino, Tashi, gave birth to a beautiful baby girl. This is Tashi's fifth calf, but the first with previous male George, who formerly lived at the venue but now resides at another Association of Zoos and Aquariums-accredited facility.
