The Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra returned to Youngstown on Sunday for a performance at Old Fort Niagara. Assistant Conductor Jaman E. Dunn led an evening of patriotic favorites as the BPO performed Sousa's "The Stars and Stripes Forever," an "Armed Forces Song Medley" and Tchaikovsky's "1812 Overture."

Catholic Health, in collaboration with Eastern Niagara Health System, has been awarded $18 million in funding from the New York State Department of Health to ensure the continuation of emergency and acute care hospital services in Eastern Niagara County. Plans announced last October call for Catholic Health to build a 60,000-square-foot hospital off South Transit Road between Shimer Drive and Ruhlmann Road in the Town of Lockport.

The Rotary Club of Buffalo has extended its grant request deadline to Sept. 22. The Buffalo Rotary Foundation funds projects to nonprofit organizations operating within the City of Buffalo primarily serving youth and families. The foundation awards grants that will provide for acquisition of necessary equipment and facilities; do not exceed $10,000; and will have a positive impact on the community for more than one year.

The New York State Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance recently announced all New Yorkers enrolled in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program will receive the maximum allowable level of food benefits for August. The agency is also working with the federal government to ensure these supplemental benefits continue to reach households in need through September and beyond.

On Tuesday, Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced he would resign from office, effective Aug. 24. One week earlier, New York Attorney General Letitia James issued a report from appointed independent investigators- led by Joon H. Kim and Anne L. Clark - detailing multiple allegations of sexual harassment by Cuomo. He has vigorously denied these allegations.

The Clean Loop Recycling Center hosted a summer celebration event with The Eric Wood Fund. Hosted over the weekend at the CLRC, the event allowed patrons to donate their bottle and can deposit refunds to The Eric Wood Fund directly. The center also made a direct donation in the amount of $5,000 to The Eric Wood Fund in addition to donations raised from visitors who opted to have their deposit refund donated to Wood's fund.
