With the rainout this past Friday night, Ransomville Speedway will try again and open the gates for the first time in 2021 on Friday, May 14, with the running of the Mackenzie Kulesza Memorial for the Sunflowers of Sanborn Mini Stocks. The 36-lap event is in honor of Mackenzie Kulesza, the 11-year-old who died tragically following a car accident in November 2020.

The USDA Forest Service Eastern Region announced two requests for applications for 2021 Great Lakes Restoration Initiative projects. Through an agreement with the Environmental Protection Agency, the Forest Service anticipates up to $5.4 million will be available for reforestation, ecosystem restoration and forest health improvements on non-federal lands in the Great Lakes basin of Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin.

To date, the department has processed more than 9 million returns and issued 4.7 million refunds. The New York State Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance (OTDA) announced all New Yorkers enrolled in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) will receive at least the maximum allowable level of food benefits for May. For a 15th consecutive month, these emergency supplemental SNAP benefits are being provided to individuals and households already enrolled in SNAP.
