The New York State Division of Human Rights (DHR) recently announced the launch of statewide public awareness campaign for Fair Housing Month to ensure all New Yorkers are fully aware of the state's antidiscrimination protections in housing. The campaign will include social media advertising, internet display advertising, informational materials and videos, and educational events.

This website educates the public on the OCM's regulatory structure which, with the Cannabis Control Board, will oversee the licensure, cultivation, production, distribution, sale and taxation of medical, adult-use and cannabinoid hemp within New York.

On March 23, an Erie County woman had a rude awakening when a turkey broke into her home. The woman heard a large bang and crash from her upstairs bedroom and discovered a turkey had busted through a glass window. The woman confined the bird to an upstairs bathroom by closing the door until New York State Department of Environmental Conservation police officer Machnica arrived to assist. The turkey flew around the bathroom, crashing into mirrors and walls, leaving broken glass everywhere.

Based on new guidelines from the New York State Department of Health, non-COVID-19 patients in Catholic Health hospitals are now allowed up to two visitors at a time. In addition, maternity patients will be allowed two support persons for the duration of their hospital stay and, in certain outpatient clinic settings, where space permits, patients may be accompanied by a support person for their appointments.

With Gov. Cuomo signing legislation today legalizing adult-use cannabis in New York state, AAA Western and Central New York is urging the public to educate themselves on the dangers of impaired driving. Effective consumer education is important to keeping New York roads safe. Regardless of marijuana's legal status, all motorists need to avoid driving while impaired. Simply put, if you've used marijuana, don't drive. And if you plan to drive, don't use marijuana.
