Gov. Andrew Cuomo on Monday announced 30-day amendments to his proposal to establish a comprehensive adult-use cannabis program in New York. Specifically, these amendments will detail how the $100 million in social equity funding will be allocated, enable the use of delivery services, and refine which criminal charges will be enforced as it relates to the improper sale of cannabis to further reduce the impact on communities hit hardest by the war on drugs.

Earlier this month, Catholic Health resumed limited visiting hours for hospitalized patients. On Wednesday, Feb. 17, the health system will expand its visitation policy for patients undergoing outpatient or "same-day" surgery at Kenmore Mercy Hospital, Mercy Hospital of Buffalo, Mount St. Mary's Hospital, and Sisters of Charity Hospital (Main Street campus) only.

With winter storm warnings in effect for Buffalo, Rochester and Syracuse, AAA wants to make sure drivers across the region are prepared to battle the snow and cold. Hazardous storms and inclement weather are a factor in more than half a million crashes and more than 2,000 road deaths every winter, according to research from the AAA Foundation for Traffic Safety. AAA urges drivers to slow down, be cautious and prepare their vehicles for the cold days ahead for their own personal safety.

A press release noted, "After consulting with local infectious disease and medical experts, ECDOH decided to distribute next week's NYS-directed vaccine allocation to hospitals for people with comorbid conditions. As of this media release, ECDOH has not been notified of the vaccine allotment for this population for the week of Feb. 14. Hospitals will evaluate inpatients during their hospital stay and vaccinate those who are most at-risk due to one or more comorbidities. Hospitals will also identify outpatients with significant comorbidities, such as those accessing specialty clinics, and offer them COVID-19 vaccine."
