Gov. Andrew Cuomo on Tuesday announced the expansion of Pine Pharmaceuticals LLC's manufacturing plant in the Town of Tonawanda. The drug outsourcing company - which moved to the 25,000-square-foot building at 355 Riverwalk Parkway in the Riverview Solar Technology Park in May of 2018 - will be tripling the size of the facility.

The Council for Older Adults in Niagara County launched a unique project to document the area's cultural history through food. The COA invited all Niagara County residents to submit traditional family recipes to preserve and commemorate their cultural history and honor their loved ones through the creation of a community cookbook. "A Taste of History: Heritage Recipes from Niagara County" will be available for sale later this year for a nominal fee.
NCCC nursing students excel in licensing exams

To become licensed as a registered nurse or practical nurse, students who graduate from a state-approved registered nursing or practical nursing program must pass the National Council License Examination (NCLEX). Both of the Niagara County Community College (NCCC) RN and PN programs have routinely received rates above the state and national averages for success in passing these exams. In 2020, NCCC nursing grads achieved a 94.05% pass rate for the NCLEX-RN and a 100% pass rate was achieved for the NCLEX-PN.
Program highlights Fort Niagara's hidden African American history

In honor of Black History Month, Old Fort Niagara will host a special tour at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 6, highlighting African Americans who served at the military post from the 18th through the 20th centuries. The tour will recount the life of Richard Pierpoint, a former slave, who served as a member of Butler's Rangers during the American Revolution. Pierpoint went on to support the British during the War of 1812.
