The Island Dispatch has learned Michael Huntress, vice president of Acquest Development LLC of Amherst, submitted a site plan to the Town of Grand Island for a proposed 1,080,308-square-foot distribution facility project on Long Road. The structure would sit on land its own, along the New York State Thruway I-190 - an area that was under consideration by Amazon for a proposed 3.8 million-square-foot distribution center.

Monitoring women's health and lifestyle, while integrating early intervention strategies for good cardiovascular health, are important, especially during midlife and during menopause to help prevent heart disease, according to a new scientific statement from the American Heart Association, "Menopause Transition and Cardiovascular Disease Risk: Implications for Timing for Early Prevention," recently published in its flagship journal, Circulation.

Just after 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, there was a shooting at 19th Street and Welch Avenue. The victim, an 18-year-old Niagara Falls man, was shot several times while sitting in the passenger side of a parked car. The suspect fled on foot.

Niagara County Legislature Chairwoman Becky Wydysh on Tuesday announced the replacement of the Upper Mountain Road culvert over Fish Creek in the Town of Lewiston is complete. The road will reopen to traffic by the end of the day, Wednesday, Dec. 2. The culvert, located northeast of Moyer Road, has been closed since September.

"Over the course of the last week, the Niagara County Department of Social Services has had approximately a dozen positive test results of DSS employees who work on the second floor of their office on 10th Street in Niagara Falls, with several additional tests still outstanding," Niagara County Manager Rick Updegrove said Monday. "After talking with employees and conducting contact tracing, the Niagara County Health Department has made the determination to quarantine all employees who work on the second floor of that building."
