The American Health Care Association and National Center for Assisted Living (AHCA/NCAL), representing more than 14,000 nursing homes and assisted living communities across the country that provide care to approximately 5 million people each year, released a report showing nursing homes in the U.S. continue to see a record number of weekly new cases this month due to the community spread among the general population, surpassing previous peaks since the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) started tracking cases in nursing homes.

It was a long time in coming, but Step-In-Time Studio of Dance is finally holding its June dance recital this week. The event, delayed by the coronavirus outbreak, is taking place in a series of daily mini-performances, with about 145 students divided into separate, small shows. With masks, temperature checks and social distancing, the pandemic brought a new date and a new look to the event. And it brought tears of joy to the eyes of a number of parents.

The New York State Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance (OTDA) announced more than $100 million in additional emergency food assistance to help New Yorkers avoid food insecurity during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. About 700,000 low-income individuals and families enrolled in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) will receive additional food benefits this month to bring them up to the maximum allowable amount for November.
