Gov. Andrew Cuomo on Friday announced New York state will send the COVID-19 medication Remdesivir to Florida as the state struggles with a resurgence of cases. Florida is waiting for a further supply from the federal government and New York will provide enough Remdesivir to help the state care for 280 COVID-19 patients until the federal shipment arrives. New York's shipment of the medication will arrive in Florida tomorrow.

A team of Let's Goat Buffalo goats has deployed to the campus of iconic Silo City, one of Buffalo's most notable landmarks. The pilot project is aimed at eliminating invasive mugwort and is sponsored by the Western New York Land Conservancy as part of its ongoing effort to develop The Riverline in downtown Buffalo.

On July 6, the Wheatfield Town Board held its first public meeting at the Town Hall since it was shuttered in March due to COVID-19 restrictions. The Town Hall reopened July 15 with a slew of new safety precautions. Rows of seats in the courtroom have been taped off to ensure social distancing, and board members are spaced widely apart.

With temperatures exceeding 90 degrees this week, Western New York finds itself in the midst of a sweltering summer heat wave. It's so hot that in Buffalo, records are being broken. The Queen City is expected to break a 30-year-record for consecutive days with 90-degree temps, while Wednesday's high of 94 degrees tied a record set in 1988.

The National Buffalo Wing Festival will pivot in 2020 and grow into a nationwide celebration of Buffalo's most iconic food. "America's Greatest Chicken Wing Party" will serve as a fundraiser for food banks in more than 50 major cities across the U.S. The new concept will take place in October as part of the newly created "National Chicken Wing Month," according to Drew Cerza, founder of the festival.

Niagara County Community College has announced plans for the fall semester, which begins Aug. 31. The college will offer in-person, online and hybrid classes, as well as face-to-face labs that require hands-on instruction such as culinary, CADD, health sciences and other related courses.
