During the fight against COVID-19, there will be a number of unseen heroes. They are hidden behind masks, tucked into laboratories and small offices, or walking into patient rooms after discharge, but they will all make a significant impact. Four anonymous donors recognized these health care workers at all four Catholic Health's acute sites - Kenmore Mercy Hospital, Sisters of Charity Hospital - Main Street Campus, Mercy Hospital of Buffalo, and Mount St. Mary's Hospital - during Holy Week, which began on April 5, Palm Sunday.

HBO Max today announced it has given production commitments for three new high-octane one-hour dramas from J.J. Abrams and Katie McGrath's Bad Robot Productions and Warner Bros. Amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo on Wednesday afternoon announced he would issue an executive order requiring all people in New York to wear a mask or a face covering when out in public and in situations where social distancing cannot be maintained, such as on public transportation. The executive order was signed later in the evening, and will go into effect on Friday, April 17.

The Erie County Department of Senior Services announced the expansion of the "Go and Dine" program. Four meal vouchers have been made available to participants each month and can be used at locally owned and operated participating restaurants. Due to COVID-19, the department is expanding the program to eight meal vouchers per month. It is also looking for new restaurants to expand its range across Erie County.

To the health care workers who care for them, people who are hospitalized with COVID-19 are an extremely disconcerting patient population. There is no proven treatment and, while the most extreme critical care measures will help some recover fully, in other cases, they, tragically, have no effect.
