"Salvation Army shelters have been following guidance from county and state health officials to ensure current shelter residents stay healthy while putting procedures in place to get the appropriate care for anyone showing symptoms of the virus. Shelter managers and staff are reviewing procedures for such a situation and are making sure spaces are cleaned and sanitized."

Following the positive test results of three individuals in Erie County for COVID-19 late Saturday, epidemiologists with the Erie County Department of Health ("ECDOH") began an intensive investigation into tracing the movements and potential close contacts of each individual following their return to Erie County from out of the area.

Erie County Executive Mark C. Poloncarz, Commissioner of Health Dr. Gale Burstein and Commissioner of Homeland Security and Emergency Services Daniel Neaverth Jr. announced three individuals in Erie County tested positive for COVID-19, a disease caused by a novel coronavirus. The cases were confirmed through testing at the Erie County Public Health Lab late Saturday afternoon and are the first confirmed cases in Erie County.
Aquarium of Niagara to close for two weeks in response to COVID-19

The Aquarium of Niagara will close to the public at 5 p.m. on Sunday, March 15, and remain closed through 9 a.m. March 28, in response to COVID-19. All scheduled events and programs within that timeframe are cancelled.

Marjorie L. (Garvin) Chase of Jupiter, Florida, passed away peacefully on March 3, 2020, at the age of 84. Marge was born in Wheeling, West Virginia, and attended West Virginia University after graduating from Moundsville High School as salutatorian. She resided on Gregory Place on Grand Island from 1970 to 1981 before moving to Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, with her family in 1981.
