Mum exhibit, special admission offers planned at Botanical Gardens

The Buffalo and Erie County Botanical Gardens announced its 119th mum exhibit will be held Oct. 5 through Nov. 3. A special" BuffaLove Dollar Day," in celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, will take place Oct. 14. NYS OASAS announces opening of new addiction recovery center in Lockport

The New York State Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services (OASAS) today announced the opening of the House of Hope recovery center in Lockport. The center is operated by Save the Michaels of the World and will provide free help and support services for people affected by addiction and their families. The center is being funded in part with $437,500 in federal funding through the State Opioid Response Grant, administered by OASAS.

'Dancing with the Stars' has first elimination, announces 'Movie Night'

The 12 celebrity and pro-dancer couples competed a second week with the first elimination of the 2019 season, live, Monday on ABC. For the show's second broadcast, scores from the judges from week one were carried over and combined with judges' scores from week two, which also marked the first weekly live-viewing audience vote of the season. And for the first time in "DWTS" history, a big format change in voting changes everything, which was revealed in the broadcast: head judge Len Goodman, and dancers/choreographers/judges Bruno Tonioli and Carrie Ann Inaba decided which of the two lowest-scoring competitors would be eliminated.

ControlRad Inc., a privately held medical technology company focused on dramatically reducing unnecessary radiation exposure during fluoroscopically guided procedures (FGP), announced the first clinical use of the ControlRad Trace system following its clearance by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. Andrew Cappuccino, M.D., an orthopedic surgeon specializing in minimally invasive spine surgery, performed the initial procedures at Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center.

She said she broached the idea to owners Emery Simon and Harold Hibbard, and they were receptive. Hibbard was in attendance at the meeting.
