Of the final show on this leg, the Lincoln Journal Star declared: "There can't be a better arena show on the road than the spectacle Carrie Underwood brought to Pinnacle Bank Arena. ... (She) is the reigning queen of country."

The Grand Island Republican Women's Club held its annual picnic on June 12, hosted by Lana and Tom Redell. The main theme was "Get out to vote on Primary Day--June 25!" 2019 is the first year for a June primary election (instead of September) in New York. Informative speeches, great food and engaging conversation were enjoyed by all. Auctioneer duties were ably handled by Pete Marston, assisted by Tom Digati with Barb Nowakowski serving as cashier for the much-anticipated annual event.

Old Fort Niagara anticipates welcoming about 500 reenactors and close to 10,000 visitors over the weekend of July 5-7 for the 40th anniversary of the French and Indian War Encampment. This annual event recreates highlights from the actual 19-day British siege of the French fort in July of 1759 through history tours, cannon firings, military music, sutlers, games, dancing, musket firings and living history camps of British, French and Native reenactors.

"This Is A Move" from South Carolina-based worship leader Brandon Lake is being unveiled today, marking his entrance as the newest member of the Bethel Music family. The awe-inspired track was co-written with Tasha Cobbs Leonard, Tony Brown and Nate Moore. The origins of the song are personal to Lake, as they stem from his friend Micah's miraculous healing from a rare form of multiple sclerosis. The song found early support when Cobbs Leonard released it earlier this year.

Empower, a Niagara County-based not-for-profit service provider, was awarded the 2019 Partnership Award by the Western New York coalition of the Self-Advocacy Association of New York State Inc. at Developmental Disabilities Day on Thursday, May 30. Empower received this award for its involvement of people with disabilities in its daily operations, and creation of more opportunities for them to participate in the community.
