Former Buffalo Bill Eric Wood continues charitable holiday tradition

The Eric Wood Fund, a not-for-profit organization founded by former Buffalo Bills center Eric Wood, will host its fourth annual "Flights and Bites" fundraiser on Monday, Nov. 26. Proceeds will support programming of The Children's Hospital of Buffalo Foundation and Stone's Buddies. The fund provides chronically ill, special needs and physically challenged children throughout Greater Buffalo with daily encouragement and life-changing experiences.
Niagara Greenway projects, November meeting announced

The Niagara River Greenway Commission will meet Tuesday, Nov. 20, to determine the consistency of the 62nd round of projects. The meeting will take place at 3 p.m. at the Grand Island Court Room, 2255 Baseline Road. The general meeting will be preceded at 2 p.m. by the business meeting at the WNY Welcome Center on Grand Island.

Santa Claus to arrive by steam train in Hamburg

Santa Claus will make his way to the Village of Hamburg's historic Erie Railroad Depot at the corner of Scott and Union streets by train on Saturday, Dec. 1. St. Nick will arrive at 9:30 a.m. aboard a train pulled by "Viscose Company" No. 6, a 1925 0-4-0 steam locomotive. Santa will then make his way inside the depot to Artcraft Toy Trains, where he'll meet with children until 5 p.m. Parents are encouraged to bring their cameras to take free pictures with Santa.

AAA projects 54.3 million Americans will journey 50 miles or more away from home this Thanksgiving, a 4.8 percent increase over last year.
