The Niagara County Farm Bureau held their annual meeting on Thursday, Oct. 25. At the meeting, the bureau adopted a number of county, state and federal resolutions. Resolutions Chair Kevin Bittner presented the various topics, including funding for agricultural organizations, solar power project limitations to protect farmland, trucking issues and labor concerns.

Last week, North Tonawanda Mayor Arthur G. Pappas, accompanied by his wife Linda, was joined by members of the Common Council, city officials, Children's Memorial committee members, as well as State Sen. Rob Ortt and a message from State Assemblyman Robin Schimminger in their participation in a dedication ceremony for the Children's Memorial Garden, which took place at Brauer Park, adjacent to City Hall at 216 Payne Ave.

The youth were greeted and given treats by owners Michael Broderick and Robin Faulring, and staff members David Loraine and Nina Baldassara.
Antiques & fine arts auction to benefit Community Missions

Community Missions will hold its annual antiques and fine arts auction on the afternoon of Sunday, Nov. 11, at the First Presbyterian Church in Youngstown. Due to overwhelming need for coats, Colvin Cleaners changes location for first distribution

Due to an overwhelming outpouring of families in need of coats and winter items at the Colvin Cleaners warehouse last year, the company has moved this Saturday's first free distribution to the Knights of Columbus Hall, 1530 Kenmore Ave., between Elmwood and Delaware Avenues in North Buffalo. It will run from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. One coat per person will be distributed. If children are not with adults, adult needs the children's id numbers.

The end of daylight savings (2 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 4) is rapidly approaching and the Firemen's Association of the State of New York is urging New Yorkers to inspect their smoke alarms when they change their clocks. FASNY specifically encourages New Yorkers to install smoke alarms equipped with sealed-in, nonremovable batteries that last for 10 years.

The craft committee, part of the St. Francis Guild at Mount St. Mary's Hospital, meets every Tuesday to make bears for the children who come to the hospital for surgery and other services. When children arrive for surgery they are greeted by a bear on their bed along with their gown, booties and blanket. As the child gets ready for their procedure, so does their bear.
