Pro Neil Farlow of St. Catharines, Ontario, Canada, won the Costa FLW Series Northern Division event on Lake Erie presented by Polaris with a single-day catch of five bass weighing 24 pounds, 4 ounces, after high winds forced tournament officials to shorten the three-day event to one day of competition. Farlow's weight was caught on Thursday and was enough to earn him the top prize of $87,500, including a new Ranger Z518 with a 200-horsepower outboard engine.

Niagara Boundary and Mapping Services President Kenneth Lee Slaugenhoupt spent part of the past week laser-scanning the Frontier House. Working inside and outside the building, he used a FARO Laser Scanner, which, he said, is capable of collecting 488,000 measurements per minute with a tolerance of ±3mm (or 1/8 inch).

Mount St. Mary's Hospital and the Service Employees International Union 1199 (SEIU) reached a tentative agreement today on a new contract that is set to expire in March 2022. Poloncarz, Erie County Public Works Department announce county plan to lease fleet vehicles

Erie County Executive Mark C. Poloncarz and Commissioner of Public Works William Geary have announced the county's intention to enter into a leasing agreement with Enterprise Fleet Management that would replace the county's owned vehicle fleet with vehicles leased from Enterprise. The agreement would rotate out 395 vehicles from the county fleet, primarily in the Public Works and Parks departments, over the next five years, along with 187 vehicles from the Erie County Sheriff's Office over the next four years.

Attorney General Barbara D. Underwood and Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo submitted comments to U.S. Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross and demanded the U.S. Department of Commerce, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, National Marine Fisheries Service, and Mid-Atlantic Fishery Management Council repeal and replace what they called the "unfair" state-by-state allocation of the annual commercial quota for summer flounder, also known as fluke.
