An event that started in the 1970s was reimagined Saturday as the women of St. Peter R.C. School presented a gala benefit. Once held in the student cafeteria, this year's rendition took place at the new wing of the Niagara Falls Country Club. There, parents, teachers, faculty and members of Rosary Altar Guild Society joined forces to stage a ladies luncheon, mother-daughter fashion show and grand gift and basket raffle, all to raise funds for the Lewiston elementary school.

Fifty high schools have risen above 1,000 applicants to claim NBC's R.I.S.E. America grants. The program - inspired by the network's upcoming drama "Rise" about a high school theater department and its effects on a small town - is awarding a half-million dollars to high school theater programs across the country.
