In basketball they say you live and die by the 3-pointer. Niagara-Wheatfield's girls basketball team didn't necessarily live or die by it Monday night versus Kenmore East, but when they made them, they were in big spots. The Falcons defeated the Kenmore East Bulldogs, 60-50, Monday night at Niagara-Wheatfield. It was the first time the two teams met all season.
Buffalo Sabres: Game-worn jersey auction running until Feb. 11

The Buffalo Sabres on Monday announced the team is holding a game-worn jersey auction that will start at 9 p.m. Tuesday. The auction will be held at auction.NHL.com until 9 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 11. Proceeds from the auction will benefit the Buffalo Sabres Foundation.

DiNapoli: Local sales tax collection growth highest since 2013 - but not so much in WNY

Local sales tax collection growth accelerated in 2017, according to a report released Monday by New York State Comptroller Thomas P. DiNapoli. Collections across the state grew by $620 million, or 3.9 percent, from the previous year, marking the highest year-over-year growth since 2013.

Saturday afternoon at Aquinas, eighth-grader Willie Lightfoot was a key in sealing the Wolverines victory. The Falls defeated the Lil' Irish in their third road game in as many days, 68-55.

On Friday morning, the Lewiston Police Department led a joint active shooter drill on the Lewiston-Porter campus. The LPD teamed with Niagara County Sheriff's Office, U.S. Border Patrol and New York State Police, in conjunction with local fire and EMS companies. Access to the schools was restricted during the duration of the event.

Students and teachers from the Lewiston Dance Center recently took part in a food drive for the Heart, Love & Soul Community Kitchen. Studio owners Rachel Novelli and Kathy Abbondanza decided to try boosting donations by getting the dance instructors involved. The result was a dance contest between the instructors. The class with the most donations would win a $50 gift card.

On the eve of International Holocaust Remembrance Day, Congressman Brian Higgins, Town of Tonawanda Deputy Supervisor John Bargnesi, Village of Kenmore Mayor Patrick Mang, Tonawanda Councilman Dan Crangle of and other local leaders paid tribute to Howard Michael Ehrhardt, a World War II veteran from Western New York who helped to liberate Dachau (DAAK-HOW), Hitler's first and longest-run concentration camp in Germany. During a ceremony in Tonawanda Town Hall, Ehrhardt's military service medals were presented to his son, Howard Michael Ehrhardt Jr., also a U.S. Army veteran, who served during the Vietnam War.
