Acclaimed actress, producer, television star and entrepreneur Oprah Winfrey will be honored with the 2018 Cecil B. de Mille Award at the 75th Annual Golden Globe Awards on Sunday, Jan. 7, 2018. The news was exclusively announced by 2012 Cecil B. de Mille Award recipient Morgan Freeman during the airing of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association's (HFPA) "Golden Globe 75th Anniversary Special" Thursday on NBC.

Fox Broadcasting Company and 20th Century Fox Film are teaming up to present the first-ever live television commercial for a feature film. Holiday tentpole "The Greatest Showman" will debut a live, two-and-a-half minute commercial during the network's upcoming three-hour live musical event, A "Christmas Story Live!", airing Sunday, Dec. 17 (7-10 p.m. ET live/PT tape-delayed), on FOX.

Fox Broadcasting Company (FOX) and Warner Horizon announced Wednesday that singer/songwriter Bebe Rexha will open "A Christmas Story Live!" with a performance of the new song "Count on Christmas." The song was written specifically for the live musical event by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, Tony Award winners for the musical "Dear Evan Hansen," and lyricists of "La La Land's" Academy Award-winning song, "City of Stars." Pasek and Paul also composed "A Christmas Story: The Musical."

Village of Lewiston ZBA denies Benjamin Homes variance request

Almost two-dozen Village of Lewiston residents came to the Zoning Board of Appeals meeting Tuesday night to oppose a dimensional variance request for a new build at lot No. 210 on South Third Street. Many hands were raised to voice an opinion but, before anyone had a chance to speak, ZBA Chairman H. John Ritter essentially took the words out of their mouths. He said he couldn't vote in favor of a municipal code alteration, which, he said, would "devalue" the neighboring properties.
