The Colvin Cleaners 22nd annual "Coats 4 Kids" program, sponsored by The Allstate Foundation and Fidelis Care, distributed a record 2,600 coats and several thousand pairs of gloves, hats and scarves on Saturday at its warehouse. That brings this year's distribution total to 4,100 coats for children and families in need with one distribution remaining: Saturday, Dec. 2, 9 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Knights of Columbus, 36 Pierce Ave., Hamburg.

During the month of November, St. Peter R.C. School students and families were busy participating in the school's annual food drive. Families were asked to give items such as cereal, pasta, peanut butter, canned goods and paper products, among other things. Donations were then given to the Society of St. Vincent de Paul for distribution to local needy families during the Thanksgiving season.

Buzzy Cohen came from behind to win the "Jeopardy!" Tournament of Champions presented by Consumer Cellular on Friday, besting Alan Lin and Austin Rogers in the second game of the two-day final match. Cohen, a 32-year-old music executive from Los Angeles, claimed the $250,000 grand prize; Alan Lin, a 26-year-old software engineer from Riverside, California, earned $100,000 for his second-place finish, while Austin Rogers, a 38-year-old bartender from New York City placed third and took home $50,000.

Following significant discussion, the Lewiston Town Board, by a 4-1 vote, gave its endorsement Monday of a local law to approve the amended Rubino brothers' concept PUD - with conditions - for a proposed development off Upper Mountain Road near Bronson Drive. The planned unit development covers 107 units, including 91 patio homes and four-unit townhouse buildings on property currently owned by Donald Smith.
