At 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 10, the Village of Lewiston Recreation Department will host its annual nighttime wild turkey hunt for children in grades K through eight. Participants will hunt for candy, prizes and, of course, stuffed turkeys in the dark in Toohey Park (behind the Red Brick Municipal Building at North Fourth and Onondaga streets).

Congressman Brian Higgins took to the Floor of the House of Representatives to object to what he deemed ongoing efforts to undermine flight safety provisions achieved through the Airline Safety and Federal Aviation Administration Extension Act of 2010. The fate of the rules are being debated within the context of Federal Aviation Administration reauthorization, set to expire in March 2018.

Lewiston resident Amy Witryol announced her intentions Wednesday to file a lawsuit against the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, CWM Chemical Services LLC and its parent company, Waste Management Inc. She made the announcement at a press conference at the Hennepin Park Gazebo on Center Street.
Richard Hastings hands off Frontier House to son Alan; family pledges to start making improvements to historic building

The Village of Lewiston Historic Preservation Commission gave Frontier House owner Richard Hastings until Nov. 1 to present a plan of action to fix the exterior of his 193-year-old building or be fined a minimum of $250 per day. On Wednesday, his business consultant, Stacey Sheehan, submitted a response to the municipality. She also announced Hastings turned the building over to his son, Alan, who operates The Silo Restaurant on Water Street.
