For 12 years, the Electric Lights Parade in the Town of Niagara has helped reel in the start of the holiday season. Last year's festivities brought out several thousand citizens and hundreds of participants in the parade itself to get everyone in the festive spirit. The same can be expected for year 13.

On Oct. 19, the school held a doughnut sale and donated all proceeds from the fundraiser to hurricane victims. In all, the school sold all 408 doughnuts in 30 minutes, and, including donations, raised $450.

New York State Sen. Chris Jacobs marked Domestic Violence Awareness Month by announcing two state grants for service providers that provide assistance to victims and their families across Western New York. The Family Justice Center of Erie County and Suicide Prevention and Crisis Services of Buffalo will each be the recipient of a $25,000 public protection grant to further their respective missions.
