For the fourth year in a row, the Village of Lewiston branch of RealtyUSA raised money for WNY Heroes Inc. As in past years, the community was invited to participate in a monthlong basket auction in May. Thanks to the support of the public, and the initiative of the real estate agents, $1,000 was raised.

Soil samples will be collected from homes in the southeastern part of Grand Island in August, said Jackie James-Creedon, executive director of Citizen Science Community Resources. That soil will be tested for 130 different types of contaminants, including benzene, pesticides, heavy metals and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs).

The Kingdom Bound Festival, one of the nation's largest and longest-running Christian music festivals, is set to return to Darien Lake Theme and Water Park this summer.
