For the 31st year in New York state, law enforcement officers will be carrying the Special Olympics Flame of Hope throughout various communities leading up to opening ceremonies at the State Summer Games. The cauldron will be lit on Friday, June 16, at Sienna College, signifying the opening of the 2017 State Summer Games.

When I was putting my Sentinel story together today, I wanted to sit on the sun porch in the front of the house so I could watch my land wash away. This is due to the extremely high Lake Ontario water levels the IJC has been telling us is only 2 inches above normal levels. (No kidding, that's what we were told.) I opted to sit in the rear of the house; no distractions.

Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo on Monday announced $7 million in state funding to assist homeowners who have been impacted by flooding along Lake Ontario and the St. Lawrence River. The new investment program will provide up to $40,000 for homeowners to support interior and exterior repairs to structural damage caused by flooding, as well as the repair or replacement of permanent fixtures.
