Press Release Submitted by the Friends of the Youngstown Free Library

The Friends of the Youngstown Free Library welcomes the community to its annual spring book sale, offering thousands of well-organized books at unbeatable prices. Book lovers of all ages are invited to browse fiction, nonfiction, children’s books and more – all in support of the Youngstown Free Library.

The sale will take place from 5-8 p.m. Thursday, May 1, at the Youngstown Village Center Gym, 240 Lockport St.

Members of the Friends of the Library enjoy early access to the sale before it opens to the public. Not a member? Join at the door for $10, or sign up in advance at youngstownfreelibrary.org/friends.html.

Public sale days are 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday, May 2; and 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, May 3.

Donate gently used books and help stock the sale: Book donations will be accepted at the Red Brick Gym from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. April 28-30.

Please note: The event cannot accept textbooks, encyclopedias, VHS tapes, or any materials with mold or mildew issues.

Proceeds from the spring book sale go directly to the Friends of the Youngstown Free Library, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. In an era of diminishing public library funding, the Friends help sustain vital library programs and services through fundraising and advocacy. By shopping the sale – or becoming a Friend – you’re making a real difference in the life of our library and our community.

The Friends of the Youngstown Free Library is a volunteer-run nonprofit dedicated to supporting the Youngstown Free Library. Through book sales, events and membership donations, the Friends help ensure that the library remains a welcoming hub of learning, literacy and connection for generations to come.
