Destination Niagara USA Press Release

From May 20-24, Destination Niagara USA once again hosted outdoor adventure enthusiast and television host Misty Wells, who filmed a new episode of her nationally televised series, “Let’s Take It Outside.”

This marks the second time Wells has worked with Destination Niagara USA to highlight Niagara County as a backdrop for her show. Her first experience taping in the destination occurred in October of 2023, which aired on the Discovery Channel in August of 2024.

Known for spotlighting outdoor destinations across the country, Wells immersed herself in the natural beauty and thrilling experiences that Niagara Falls USA has to offer. During her most recent visit, she reeled in unforgettable memories – including catching her first salmon on Lake Ontario and her first steelhead in the Lower Niagara River.

Guided by local charter captains Joe Oaks of Salmonboy Sportfishing and Joe Marra of Niagara Rainbow Charters, Wells experienced firsthand the world-class sportfishing that makes the region a premier destination for anglers.

Wells also explored the area’s vibrant culinary and cultural scene, visiting local favorites such as Vern’s in Wilson, Hill of Beans in Youngstown, Brickyard Brewing Company and Apple Granny Restaurant in Lewiston, Webster’s Bistro in North Tonawanda, and Craft Kitchen and Bar in Niagara Falls. Her time in the region also included iconic experiences aboard the Maid of the Mist boat tour and at the annual Smelt Festival in Lewiston.

“Hosting outdoor media is a great opportunity to reach a national and, in this case, a worldwide audience to showcase the amazing sportfishing Niagara County has to offer,” said Frank Campbell, director of outdoor promotions for Destination Niagara USA.

Wells echoed her enthusiasm for the region: “I love ‘taking it outside’ in Niagara USA. There is so much to do. Not only is the fishing world-class, the hiking and biking is amazing, and the scenery isn’t so bad, either. It is one of my truly favorite places to visit and film. I look forward to it every year.”

The new episode of “Let’s Take It Outside” featuring Niagara Falls USA is scheduled to air on the Discovery Channel in the fall 2025, bringing national attention to the region’s unparalleled outdoor adventure and hospitality.
