On June 24, at 3:42 a.m., while on routine patrol in the area of Cayuga Drive and 95th Street, Deputy Salada observed a suspicious vehicle.
Deputy Salada attempted to perform a traffic stop with said vehicle, which fled eastbound on Cayuga Drive. A pursuit ensued when said vehicle failed to yield to patrol’s emergency lights and sirens. Said vehicle turned south on Williams Road, traveling at a high rate of speed. Said vehicle turned left on River Road and continued traveling eastbound on River Road. The vehicle attempted to turn left onto Witmer Road, but came to a stop in the middle of the intersection.
Patrols surrounded the vehicle and took both occupants into custody without incident. The occupants were identified as juvenile males. The vehicle, a 2018 Kia Optima, color black, displayed a damaged ignition console. The registered owner was notified and reported the vehicle stolen out of the City of North Tonawanda.
The juvenile males were charged with criminal possession of stolen property in the third degree (D felony), criminal mischief in the third degree (E felony), unlawful fleeing of police officer in a motor vehicle (A misdemeanor), obstruction of governmental administration in the second degree (A misdemeanor), and multiple vehicle and traffic offenses.
The juvenile males were released to their parents on appearance tickets. Both juveniles are due to appear in Youth Part Court.
These juvenile males are presumed innocent until or unless proven guilty in a court of law.
