On the weekend of June 21-22, the Lewiston Garden Club, the Lewiston Council on the Arts, and Artpark & Company celebrated nature with two popular annual events.
First, participants were invited to “Welcome Summer” at the annual Lewiston GardenFest, spread across Center Street and at garden walk locations throughout the village. Presented by the Lewiston Garden Club, the festival included approximately 90 vendors selling flowers, plants, and handcrafted garden essentials; plus, speakers, a container garden contest, and a partnership with the Lewiston Council on the Arts for the second “Porchfest” live music series.
GardenFest was Saturday and Sunday.

Then, the community was invited to the Artpark State Park grounds for the Strawberry Moon Festival. The vibrant and immersive afternoon featured music, dance, storytelling, cultural teachings, workshops and Indigenous artistry. Celebrating the teachings of the Strawberry Moon, this year’s festival embraced the theme of renewal, generosity and connection, inviting people of all ages to experience the richness of Indigenous culture.
This year’s Strawberry Moon Festival included “The Circle: Indigenous Teachings and Storytelling”; an expanded Indigenous Discovery Zone; the Indigenous Artisan Market showcasing the artistry and craftsmanship of Indigenous makers from across Turtle Island; and the high-energy smoke dance competition with dancers ranging from tiny tots to adults captivating audiences with their grace, agility, speed and storytelling through movement – demonstrating dazzling footwork and vibrant regalia.
Strawberry Moon Festival took place on Saturday.
