Staff Reports

Santa has a date to visit Grand Island from 3-6 p.m. this Saturday during the “Light Up the Boulevard” and parade festival.

So tell the kids to get their Christmas wish lists ready. Santa will be there to greet them in the town gazebo, 2255 Baseline Road.

The “Electric Light Parade” marches down the boulevard at 6 p.m., and the road closes by late afternoon to prepare for it. The parade route goes down Grand Island Boulevard, traveling from Whitehaven Road north to Baseline Road.

The event runs from 3-7 p.m. and culminates in the lighting of the Christmas tree promptly after the parade.

The annual event, presented by the Grand Island Chamber of Commerce, is chock full of goodies for families.

There will be a big, heated tent on site at the Town Commons, and plenty of activity inside.

The festivities include a petting zoo, face painting, a magic show by Todd Nelson; balloon animals made by the Balloon Guy; “Frozen” characters Anna, Elsa and Olaf; hot chocolate; food trucks; local vendors; and caricature artists. Music will be provided by DJ Dirty Verdi.

There also will be coloring and letters to Santa activities with the Grand Island Recreation Center.
