Concert series continues at Youngstown Presbyterian Church

Youngstown Presbyterian Church will present the next performance of its concert series at 7 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 3, in the church sanctuary, 100 Church St. This concert is a joint program of the Equinox String Quartet (Jessica Anthony and David Spring, violins; Elizabeth Seward, viola; and Samantha Godus, cello) and Dominic Townsend (baritone) accompanied by Claudia Andres, (piano).

Townsend is Youngstown native and a 2022 graduate of Lewiston-Porter High School. He is currently a senior in voice performance/music education at the Fredonia School of Music (SUNY Fredonia) He was guest soloist last summer with the Buffalo Philharmonic summer series performance at Academy Park in Lewiston.

Andres is an accomplished and active pianist and accompanist in Youngstown, Buffalo and throughout Niagara County and beyond. She is also the current conductor of the Lewiston Choraleers. 

Equinox is comprised of four highly skilled string players from the Buffalo area. They have performed on Youngstown Presbyterian Church's annual Christmas candlelight concert for the past four years, and have done several full concerts, both in Youngstown and in Buffalo.

The programs features a collaboration between Equinox and Townsend, "Dover Beach" by Samuel Barber. Additional composers/arrangers represented on the program include Jay Althouse, Irving Berlin, Sergei Rachmaninoff, Maurice Ravel, Piotr Tchaikovsky, Schmidt and Jones ("The Fantastiks") Schonberg/Boublil/Natel ("Les Miserables"), Hugh Martin, and the Danish String Quartet

There is no charge to attend, but free-will donations are encouraged and gratefully accepted. The event is open to the public.
