The Town of Porter announced applications are now being accepted for its 2026 “Hometown Heroes” banner program.

Now in its third year, the town’s military banners honor service members in the northern Niagara community. Measuring 66 by 30 inches in size, the banner feature dual-sided images of the service member and are constructed of durable vinyl. The banners appear on utility poles throughout the town.

The banners will cost the family/sponsor $210 for the 2026 season. Cost includes the banner manufacture, installation and related hardware, plus related maintenance and storage costs by the town.

“We’re happy to again offer this program for our veterans,” said John “Duffy” Johnston, town supervisor.

He said the town had more than 140 banners on utility poles in Youngstown and Ransomville last year.

The application period continues to March 31. For more information or to obtain an application, stop by Porter Town Hall or visit the town’s website at https://www.townofporterny.gov.
