Lewiston Council on the Arts receives $25,000 grant from New York State Council on the Arts

Lewiston Council on the Arts is pleased to announce it was awarded a $25,000 grant from the New York State Council on the Arts.

“We are so excited and extremely grateful to the New York State Council on the Arts for their generous support,” said Maria Fortuna Dean, executive director of the Lewiston Council on the Arts. “This grant provides critical funding for the year-long administrative work that happens behind the scenes – work that directly benefits our community by supporting accessible, high-quality arts and cultural programming that brings people together, strengthens community connections, and enhances our shared quality of life.”

The mission of the New York State Council on the Arts is to foster and advance the full breadth of New York state’s arts, culture and creativity for all. Executive Director Erika Mallin said, “During these challenging times, the New York State Council on the Arts has been a stalwart and innovative funder. These grants will serve artists and organizations in every region and county, fueling our economy and serving our communities. We know this support isn’t just an investment in the arts; it’s an investment in New York’s future. Congratulations to all our FY 2026 grantees and thank you for your perseverance, your creativity, and your tireless service to New York state.”

In addition to producing the nationally recognized Lewiston Art Festival, the Lewiston Council on the Arts presents a year-round schedule of events, classes, lectures, and musical and theatrical performances – providing tens of thousands of residents and visitors opportunities to experience the arts, culture and history of Western New York.
