Niagara Arts & Cultural Center Press Release & Photos

The Niagara Arts & Cultural Center (NACC) will showcase a multimedia exhibition of works featuring 30-40 professional and amateur artists at the 15th annual “Artists of Color” Gallery Exhibition.

“Artists of Color” will feature work by regional artists inspired by the African American experience from the historical, contemporary and personal perspective. Conceived as an opportunity for mentorship, each year emerging artists are invited to show along with established artists – and shown how to prepare their work for exhibition.

The exhibition is curated by Gallery Director Ray Robertson alongside guest curators Doretha Edwards and Ari Moore.

The gallery exhibition is located inside the NACC at the Townsend Gallery, 1201 Pine Avenue, Niagara Falls (use the red door on Portage Road). It is free and open to the public from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays.

The opening reception will take place from 2-5 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 7, and feature music and light refreshments catered by Edyth Crawford (owner of Betty’s on Pine Avenue). Entertainment will include performances by Vibrant Strings from 2-3:30 p.m. and the Dale Toliver Band from 3:30-5 p.m. Visitors on Saturday can expect a multiarts experience of live jazz music, spoken word and open mic, plus opportunities to meet the artists.

The gallery exhibition is made possible by the New York State Council on the Arts, the Niagara Falls Bridge Commission, and with support from private donors.

The NACC’s mission is to protect the historic building, preserve cultural heritage, and promote arts and cultural experiences to our community and visitors to the region. Additional information for galleries, exhibitions, events and opportunities can be found at www.thenacc.org.
