Rotary Club of Grand Island announced its annual Shred-it event is moving to Sidway Elementary’s front parking lot, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, July 27. Patrons can take advantage of confidential document destruction of all their papers via a drive-thru, in-vehicle service.
The cost is $10 for a box approximately 12-by-16-by-10-inches, or $20 for a double-banker box. Free will donations are welcome. Receipts are available on request.
Event organizers stated, “Please follow guidelines for secure document destruction by removing binders, plastic, and no items you would put into your curbside recycling. If you have more than six large boxes, please contact us so that we can accommodate them separately, at 716-773-7265.”
The Rotary Club started this fundraiser in 2010. The funds are used to support various community causes, such as trail enhancements, the Family Justice Center, the DeGlopper Memorial, Salvation Army of Tonawanda, scholarships and international efforts.
Organizers added, “Remember: Shred anything that has your Social Security number or account number on it before you toss it out. Remove paper from binders, no plastic or household recycling. Staples and paper clips can be accommodated.”
This event is co-sponsored with Christine A. Learman, CPA, PC; and Madison Tile Carpet One. For more information, visit www.rotaryclubgi.org or on Facebook (group: rotaryclubgi).
