A Veterans Day concert by the National Championship American Legion Band of the Tonawandas will be performed at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 3 at the Cardinal O’Hara High School Performing Arts Center in the Town of Tonawanda.
A special feature for the concert will be the world premiere of “Virtues of Mankind” by guest conductor and composer Rossano Galante, featuring vocalists Mary Kofahl and John Panepinto.
The 80-member band, conducted by Matthew Cool, will perform a pops program in the spectacular style and tradition of John Philip Sousa.
The show-stopping program will include famous marches, “Jubilee Overture,” “Let Freedom Ring” and “Salute to the Armed Forces,” as well as familiar show tunes and rousing military band spectaculars.
Also included will be rousing military band favorites including “Hymn to the Fallen” by John Williams and “Eagle Squadron” march.
Tickets are $10, or $5 for veterans, and may be purchased at Walker Bros. & Monroe Jewelers and Mid-City Opticians in North Tonawanda and the Tonawanda Senior Center in the City of Tonawanda or at O’Hara the night of the performance.
Plenty of free parking is available and the Performing Arts Center is handicapped-accessible.
