Niagara History Center Press Release
The Niagara History Center will hold its largest fundraising event May 17. The “Locks & Legacy Gala” will feature a buffet dinner, a silent auction, and a “live” auction to raise money to help support the History Center’s operations.
“As a nonprofit historical society, we depend on financial support from our members and our community,” said James Lester, the History Center’s executive director. “Preserving our heritage, providing for education about our past, and operating our three museums requires us to gather a variety of funding sources. The gala and auction is our most important fundraising event of the year.”
The History Center’s 2025 “Locks & Legacy Gala” will celebrate the 200th anniversary of the completion of the Erie Canal. It will be held at Lockport Locks & Erie Canal Cruises. The evening will begin with an included, optional one-hour cruise through the locks, and will continue at the canalside banquet facility with food stations, and silent and live auctions featuring contributions from local artists and photographers, and other items donated by area businesses and sponsors.
The History Center is accepting reservations (required) for the event until May 9. Interested people can call 716-434-7433 or go to niagarahistory.org for more information or to register.
